In 1853, Isaac is an enslaved young man on a North Carolina plantation. Liam is the son of the man who owns him. What begins in childhood as an unlikely friendship grows into something neither of them can safely name.

On Free Ground is a story of love, freedom, race, and the choices people make when the world has already decided who they are allowed to be.
