Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 30, 2026

OnFreeGround.com (the “Site”) is the official website for the novel On Free Ground by Greg [Last Name], published by Omniuna Media (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The short version: we collect very little. We collect your email address only if you choose to join the mailing list or write to us, we never sell your information, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time.

1. Information you choose to give us

Mailing list. If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name. We use this only to send news about On Free Ground — publication announcements, pre-order and availability notices, events, and occasional updates about the author’s work.

Contact form and email. If you contact us — as a reader, a book club, a member of the press, or anyone else — we collect your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to respond to you and to follow up on your request (for example, arranging a book club visit or sending a media kit).

You are never required to give us any of this information to browse the Site, read its pages, or download the reader’s guide, glossary, or other free materials.

2. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the Site and its hosting provider automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the Site — which pages are popular, how people find us, and whether the Site works well on different devices. We do not use this information to identify you personally.

Cookies. The Site may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for it to function and, where applicable, for analytics. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the Site will still work without them. [If the analytics service is cookie-free, replace this paragraph with: “The Site does not use tracking cookies.”]

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow third parties to track you across other websites for advertising purposes through the Site.

3. How we use your information

We use the information described above only to:

  • send the mailing-list updates you asked for;
  • respond to messages and requests;
  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Site and the mailing list, and only as needed for them to do that work:

  • Website hosting: Dreamhost
  • Mailing list: Mailer Lite
  • Analytics: Google Analytics

These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Site, our readers, or others.

5. Links to other websites

The Site links to other websites, including retailers where you can buy or pre-order the book (such as Amazon and other booksellers) and the author’s social media pages. When you follow those links, you leave the Site, and the other site’s privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for how those sites collect or use your information. Some retailer links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase. The retailer, not us, handles your purchase and payment information.

6. Email choices

Every mailing-list email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at the address below. After you unsubscribe, we will stop sending you updates, though we may keep a record of your email address to make sure we honor your request.

7. How long we keep information

We keep mailing-list information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and handle any follow-up. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form according to the analytics provider’s standard retention settings.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate;
  • delete your information; or
  • stop using your information for mailing-list updates.

To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time and won’t treat you differently for making a request. Depending on where you live — for example, in California, other U.S. states with privacy laws, the European Union, or the United Kingdom — you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor requests made under those laws.

Visitors outside the United States. The Site is operated from the United States, and information we collect is stored and processed in the United States. Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on your consent (for the mailing list), our legitimate interest in responding to you and running the Site, and compliance with legal obligations.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult readership and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use reasonable measures, including those provided by our hosting and email providers, to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, but we work to keep the information we hold limited and protected.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features to the Site. When we do, we will post the updated version here and change the effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will note them on the Site or in a mailing-list update.

12. Contact us
